General Rental Information
The renter and the driver have to be in possession of a valid driving license.
Driving license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an International driving license. Please show a valid ID card or passport at time of pick up.
DRIVING AGE AND DRIVER LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
The minimum driver age required is 21.
The maximum driver age is 75.
Driving license must be held for at least 1 year.
Young driver surcharge applicable for driver age from 21-24 inclusive: €5 per day.
Senior driver surcharge applicable for driver age from 70-75 inclusive: €5 EUR per day.
In addition drivers between 71 and 75 years of age need a medical certificate attesting their ability to drive.
CB Rentals Insurance Excess
When you rent a vehicle from CB Rentals, the price you are quoted automatically includes a basic level of cover should you be involved in an accident.
Mandatory cover is included unless you have prearranged contracted rates. If you have contracted rates please contact your company representative to find out your cover arrangements
EXCESS IS €900. (Economy/Compact/Full Size)
EXCESS IS €1400. (Station Wagon/ Open Top/ 7 – 9 SEATER)
We can offer an additional cost to reduce the excess to €350/€150 at a cost of €7 or €9 per day.

Legal Liability, Third Party and Public Liability Cover
These are compulsory, in case you damage someone or something else, including passengers in the rented vehicle and third party property. By law, Legal Liability, Third Party and Public Liability Cover, are included in your rental price.
What does it cover?
Covers you in case you cause damage, including passengers and their property, when using the CB Car Rentals vehicle
Does not Cover:
- Theft or attempted theft of the vehicle
- Theft of personal belongings from the vehicle
- Death or injury to the driver
- Damage to the rental vehicle
Vehicle Damage Cover (CDW)
(Also known as Collision Damage Waiver or Collision Damage Insurance)
If the rental car is damaged, this will cover the cost of repairs. You will, however, have to pay a fixed
amount towards the repair costs. This is known as the excess. This applies regardless of whether you were at fault. CDW is mandatory for drivers aged 21-25 or if you are paying by cheque or cash.
What does it cover?
Cost of repairs to the Avis vehicle if it is damaged. You will, however, have to pay an excess charge towards the cost of repairs. This applies regardless of fault and in Malta can be up to €900/€1500 per claim. If we can recover these costs from a responsible third party, we will reimburse you
Does not Cover:
- Damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence
- Damage caused by failure to use correct fuel
- Damage caused as a result of a breach of the rental agreement
- Damage through attempted theft
- Damage to Tyres
- Damage to Windscreen
- Damage to Vehicle Undercarriage
- Loss of Keys
Your car hire quote will state whether Vehicle Damage Cover (CDW) is included. If it is not included then you will be financially responsible up to the full value of the Vehicle and damages.
Fuel
The vehicle is supplied with a full tank of fuel. It should be full tank on return or refuelling charges will be applied.
The vehicle can also be supplied with a half tank of fuel. It should be returned with the same level or refuelling charges will apply.
No refunds for unused fuel are given.
NO HIDDEN CHARGES ON FUEL
Delivery & Collection
During Opening Hours
For Delivery/Collection Service a charge of 18.00 EUR applies.
Out of Opening Hours
Delivery/Collection Service is on request. Please contact the local rental station.
An out of opening hours charge for Delivery/Collection Service may apply.
An Out Of Hours surcharge of 20.00 EUR occurs for bookings out of opening hours.
Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions
Cross Border Rentals are not allowed.
Ferrying the car to Gozo is allowed.
In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all protections lose their validity.
Administration Fee For Fines and Fees
If the renter has a traffic/ parking fine during the rental the renter will be charged an Administration Fee of 15.00 EUR together with the first settlement-proposition.
The renter is liable for payment of all traffic/parking fines occuring during the rental
